Can you tell us a bit about the Rocky Mountain Soap Company story?
We bought the company when it was just a tiny 300sq/ft store and kitchen and had no idea at the time of what it would become. We felt that it was so important for parents and people in general to be able to buy toxin-free body care products and we learned there is a big need for a brand that people can trust. There is little to no regulation on the chemical ingredients that companies are allowed to use, and just a little education. Our dream is to rid the Canadian bath & body industry of toxins for good.
What are some exciting new developments for Rocky Mountain Soap Company?
We are so excited to have finally launched our sunscreen line, its tough to do sunscreen naturally and we feel like this formula is outstanding. We don’t like to give to many product launch secrets away up front but I will say that we are working on some exciting new soap scents as well as transitioning our line towards being organic. We have an exciting line up of new products we’re working on formulating but we’ll keep a lid on those until they get closer to launch. We also have our long-terms sights set on more store locations across the country.
What (or who) inspires you when it comes to juggling a busy company and career with motherhood?
My EO (Entrepreneurs organization) forum group. I see all of these business owners juggling kids and companies and it takes away some of the guilt knowing others are juggling too.
Is there a momfession you can share with our community?
I became a pro at Bejewelled when I was up nursing my 3rd baby in the night. It got me excited to get up 3 times a night. That and Huffington Post App…

Our Lavender hand cream…the scent just makes me relax and chill out a bit when I am busy.
The 2 biggest pieces of wisdom you would share with moms:
#1 It takes a lot to screw up your kids, so relax.
#2 Know that your kids will eat half of what you expect them to and sleep twice as much. If they are fussy, nine times out of ten they are tired.
Please fill in the blanks.
When they are older, I want my kid(s) to most remember me as…teaching them to love the earth…literally I mean dirt, plants, bugs etc
When parents find out what I do, they often say: “They say, “You look too young…”
In my free time, I love to…play guitar.
I’m dreaming of …Quitting my day job and becoming a groupie 🙂
Karina, can’t wait to hear you play a song on your guitar and welcome her to the MommiesFirst family!
With love and care,
